Our Services
Comprehensive Breast Assessment Timely answers. Coordinated care. Peace of mind.
At Darling Downs Diagnostic Breast Clinic (DDDBC), we provide comprehensive breast assessment for men and women experiencing breast symptoms, those with a family history of breast cancer, or anyone seeking reassurance about their breast health.
Using the internationally recognised Triple Assessment model, we combine expert clinical assessment with same-day mammography and ultrasound, and biopsy when required, to provide a streamlined, coordinated pathway to diagnosis. Our integrated approach helps reduce waiting times, minimises unnecessary appointments, and ensures you receive the right care at the right time.

What is Triple Assessment?
Triple Assessment combines three important steps to accurately investigate breast concerns:

Clinical Consultation
Your appointment begins with a comprehensive consultation with one of our experienced Breast Clinicians.
We take the time to understand your symptoms, medical and family history before performing a thorough breast examination and discussing the most appropriate investigations for your individual circumstances.
Diagnostic Breast Imaging
Where imaging is required, we'll coordinate your breast investigations with one of our trusted imaging partners.
This may include:
- Digital mammography
- Breast ultrasound
- Breast MRI (where appropriate)
Our integrated approach helps ensure imaging is arranged promptly and interpreted within the context of your clinical assessment.
Breast Biopsy
If an abnormality requires further investigation, we will coordinate image-guided biopsy through our imaging partners.
We'll explain the procedure, answer your questions and arrange timely follow-up to discuss your results and any recommended next steps.
We assess a wide range of breast concerns
Our Breast Clinicians assess patients with:
- A new breast lump
- Breast pain
- Nipple discharge
- Skin dimpling or skin changes
- Nipple inversion or changes
- Redness or swelling
- Changes identified on breast imaging
- Enlarged lymph nodes
- Breast implants and related concerns
- Ongoing breast symptoms requiring further assessment
No concern is too small. If you've noticed a change, we're here to help.

Family History & High-Risk Breast Assessment
Not every appointment is prompted by symptoms.
We also provide assessment for people with:
- A strong family history of breast or ovarian cancer
- Increased breast cancer risk
- Dense breast tissue
- High-risk breast surveillance requirements
- Concerns about future breast cancer risk
Our clinicians can assess your individual risk, discuss appropriate screening recommendations and coordinate ongoing surveillance where indicated.
Results & Follow-Up
We understand that waiting for results can be one of the most stressful parts of your breast health journey.
Once your imaging or biopsy has been completed, we'll review your results promptly and discuss them with you, ensuring you understand the findings and any recommended next steps.
For many patients, results appointments can be conveniently provided via telehealth, allowing you to receive expert advice without returning to the clinic.
Coordinated Specialist Care
While many patients require reassurance or routine follow-up, some may need further specialist assessment.
DDDBC operates under the specialist guidance of Dr Peter O'Donohue, Specialist Breast and Oncoplastic Surgeon and full member of BreastSurgANZ.
If surgery or specialist treatment is required, we provide seamless referral to Darling Downs Surgical Oncology (DDSO), ensuring continuity of care without unnecessary delays.
We also work closely with your GP and other healthcare providers to ensure your care remains connected throughout your journey.
